De Bibliotheek van de 100 Talenten | 1. Het idee

The 'Library of 100 Talents' is an innovative concept for the youth library of the future. The foundation began in the year 2000 and has remained an ongoing basis as the concept has grown. Active use, discovery, and sharing of imagination and information are central to the concept. New knowledge emerges for children, new ideas are discovered, and new working methods are developed in the library.
This book is about children: about their talents and their powerful ability to use their imagination when faced with information. About their affinity and interaction with media, which illustrates what media literacy could really be. This is a book about libraries, because these are the places where children love to come and where the old ideals of the library gain new meaning: as a source for personal and social development. This is a book for librarians, because renewing the contemporary library profession starts now: by putting children in the spotlight. By inspiring others and being inspired by others. By discovering talent: in yourself and in the children.
This is the first part of a trilogy where the backgrounds of the concept and the context are presented.
